This book is shocking, heartbreaking, graphic, and inspiring all at once. Eisnitz paints a gruesome picture of slaughterhouses and the inhumane and unsanitary ways that meat is brought to American dinner tables. It is difficult--but also so important--to read.

Well written and thoroughly disgusting this book will definitely make you reconsider eating meat. It reminded me of Upton Sinclair's 'The Jungle' written almost 100 years earlier. Apparently not much has changed in the meat packing industry.
