A fast-paced mystery involving Dana Evans of Washington, D.C. TV station WTN. As she tries to prove that members of the Winthrop had been murdered due to a business deal gone bad, she endangers her own life and that od her adopted son. VERY GOOD!
TV reporter, Dana Evans investigates the deaths of the Winthrop family. All die in the space of one year. Her investigation takes her all over the world and nearly cost her everything she holds dear.
If America were to have a royal family, the Winthrops would wear the crown. The popular, charismatic Winthrops have captured the imagination of the entire nation, as well as the world with their public service, their myriad acts of altruistic charity, and their glamorous lives. But in a single year, all five members of the family were killed in a series of unexplained accidents.
Dana Evans, a beautiful young anchorwoman with a Washington television network, believes there is a more sinister motive behind their deaths. She begins an investigation and starts uncovering compelling evidence that she can hardly believe.
In Dana's determined pursuit of the truth, she never anticipated the cat-and-mouse chase that would ultimately lead her through a half dozen countries on the trail of a remorseless killer. As she closes in on her suspect, the shocking secrets Dana then unearths place both herself and her young son in dire jeopardy. In an unexpected turn of events, Dana soon becomes the hunted.
Will Dana be able to outwit her pursuers and finally expose the truth that will astound the world? Readers should prepare themselves for skillful twists and turns in the plot of a dynamite thriller that has become Sidney's Sheldon's hallmark.
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. According to Shelfari's synopsis of The Sky is Falling: A Novel by Sidney Sheldon, the character of Dana Evans made her first appearance in The Best Laid Plans. However, this book can be read on its own. I give The Sky is Falling: A Novel an A!

This is quite a short book for Sidney Sheldon. It is a thriller and without so much of his usual sexual situations. I enjoyed this book; it is a quick read, and the subject was interesting. I would recommend it. Genny

My favorite author of all time. Sidney Sheldon who I mourn in his passing, because I thoroughly enjoyed his books and he could not write them as fast as I read them.

"A novel of glamour, sex, power and murder that spans the globe."
It's a good one!

Murder, money, mystery, glamour - loved it!
Great Sheldon, as usual.
Very interesting twists and turns throughout. The ending was totally unexpected. Great to listen to.
Dana Evans, who made her first appearance in Sidney Sheldon's The Best Laid Plans, is a spunky, good-looking, young Washington TV journalist who's recently returned to the nation's capital from the Balkans, where she adopted a handicapped war orphan who's having trouble adjusting to life in America. But that doesn't keep Dana from following a story all over the world, from Washington to Aspen, Nice, Juneau, Dusseldorf, Rome, Brussels, Moscow, and Siberia. Each of these brief visits is like a postcard--a local landmark or two, an interesting local restaurant (at least in the European venues), and another piece of the puzzle, which has to do with why every member of a venerable, old Washington dynasty has died a violent death in the last year. It seems strange that in a media-savvy city like Washington, no one but Dana has noticed there's a pattern in the rapid extinction of the Winthrops or even whispered the words family vendetta. But that's why pretty, young girl TV reporters were invented, at least by Sheldon.
As Dana sets out to investigate the distinguished career of the Winthrop family patriarch, her lover Jeff, a sports anchor at her station, is called away to administer aid and succor to his former wife, a beautiful model who's realized, too little and too late, that she never should have dumped him. And Kemal, the 12-year-old orphan, is being drugged by his baby sitter, who's in cahoots with at least one set of bad guys. Dana hasn't noticed how tractable the temperamental boy has become recently because she's been dressing up like a two-bit Russian tramp to infiltrate a secret weapons base in Siberia... Do you hear the words movie locations? But all's well that ends well, as it usually does for Sheldon's heroines, and in the meantime you've learned where the five-star hotels are and what to order in a famous restaurant in Rome. A slick, commercial, slightly thin tale told by a craftsman of the genre.

I can not believe that I am this disappointed in a book by Sheldon. The plot was predictable and ridiculous and the ending was just way to happily ever after. I did not connect with any of the characters. This book stunk.
An intriguing, page turner! Fast-paced and suspenceful mystery involving a lone reporter and a wealthy family with lots of secrets!
Not my favorite Sidney Sheldon book but still good non the less. Murder mystery. Will keep you guessing
INCRDIBLE ! I could not put this down ... and it was a fast read ! I will be looking for more of this authors selections quickly!
i loved this book, it brings back in Dana Evan's from The Best Laid Plans and though you don't need to read that book to understand this story.
A page turner -- the tension builds and holds right through a seven-alarm finale. Great read - larger print than many paperbacks.
story of a rich man who disappears.full of suspense.

Very fast read. If you like Sheldon, you will like this book.
Murder, politics and even a whole family being taken out one by one.
True Sidney Sheldon fiction! A great, quick read.
The Winthrops are America's "Royal Family". Their version of Prince Charming, Gary, has been murdered in his home. He's the fifth member of the family to die in one year.
Anchorwoman Dana Evans was one of the last to see him alive. She makes it her mission to investigate his death, and the supposedly unrelated deaths of the others.
By doing so, she and her young son are placed in mortal danger.

Very good read, but Sheldon always is.
