This is the first book I have read from Ava Gray. So I'm reading them out of order and I'm definitely reading her other ones. I really didn't want to put this book down. It was exciting with great characters, even the crazy delusional scientist. I would love to know what happens to the other characters from the lab in her future books.

I love Mia's strength of character. She is definitely not the kick butt kind of girl but she is tough. Sorren is the one with the ultimate sad back story. They have great scenes together. I expected Sorren to be the typical wooden wounded alpha, but he is actually incredibly sweet.

The love scenes are detailed so if you are more into the lovey dovey romance, this one might not be for you.

Mia and Foster (who now goes by Addison) first meet in book 1 when Mia went to Vegas to find her friend Kyra who was missing. Things happened and she connected with Foster, who then betrayed her. Fast forward a year later and they cross paths once again. Mia works as a forensic accountant and exposes corporate espionage. They both end up at Micro Technologies (also known as "The Foundation").
This sheds light on the research this organization has done on children and adults without consent. It seems they would hold "free" vaccination clinics in poor neighborhoods. The vaccine would contain something that would alter an individual and give them abilities. It wasn't said, but I assume Kyra was one of the children who got free vaccines. Anyway, Foster/Addison did and his ability is one that makes him difficult to "see" (people see what they want) and an ability to alter perception. Mia is able to see him as he is and she is the only one who has been able to do so. He also shares his real name (Soren). We also find out that Mia isn't exactly on the straight and narrow either (it takes a thief to catch one).
A "research" facility is taken down, but how many more are there? Additional characters are introduced- Gillie (she was taken as a child and her parents were told she was dead, she has the ability to heal with her blood), Taye (his has an electrical ability, he was taken as an adult), Silas (the handyman who did Dr Rowan's dirty work, considered a failed experiment and prisoner).
