I couldn't put this book down. Bought it a few years back in Canada, as it was a community read selection.

Don't pick this one up for a quick read. You'll want to have the time to savor Ondaatje's wonderful language. I didn't expect much when I picked it up: what a fine surprise! I felt immersed in a Canadian immigrant community, and met characters who were quite new to me.
