I like all of Wilhelm's books. Her mysteries are well crafted, plausible and above all entertaining.
Lee, a young woman from an affluent family of geniuses, is taking a break from school and house-sitting for the grandfather that she barely knows while he is out of town. As soon as she arrives at the old house, she begins to hear strange noises in the night. The strangeness escalates as she discovers a secret room in the house, a room whose contents interest the FBI.
This is the second book I have read by Kate Wilhelm and I definitely enjoyed it. A good solid mystery story whose action begins almost immediately. The characters are likeable and many of them are not who they seem to be. Highly recommended!

Great read! Author seems to have an intense dislike of the South. If you can handle that, you'll love the book.

This was a GREAT mystery story. Full of twists and turns, and hard to put down. Definitely recommend it!!
I have read other books by the author and they were much better than this one, so just don't start with this one. It tried very hard to be suspenseful, but to me it missed horribly. Too much going on and then nothing going on and then wrapped neatly with a bow at the end. Not worth the time it took to read it
