First time reading a M.C. Beaton book and throughly enjoyed this story.
Two misfits come together in an odd way and help each other in solving a mystery that Fell seems to be knee deep in.
Lots of laugh out loud moments and you connect with Fell and Maggie right from the start.
Fun read.

Fun read. Young man finds surprises after finding he's not who he thinks he is. He has a faithful sidekick who helps him clear out the mysterious clues and find happiness.

I have read many many of M. C. Beaton's books but this one is my most favorite one of all. It is not first book of a series. Two misfits worked to solve the mystery into the large inheritance of Fell Dolphin. But their path is filled with surprises, danger and adventure. I have read it twice and I've enjoyed it both times!

To my knowledge, this is the only nonseries book M.C. Beaton has written.

I almost gave up on this one. The first half is full of Maggie's self-pity and low self esteem. The second half is better.

A great story, and a great character. I wish there were more of these!
