Every special ed. teacher (and regular ed. teacher) should read this! A sixth grade girl struggles with a learning disability while her mother refuses to support enrolling her in special education. The stigma of special ed. is clear, and the main character has humorous ways of coping with her dilemma.
Showing that bad isn't always cool.
"...this is also a good book read, and Helen at her worst will undoubtedly provoke laughter asa well as sympathy." - ALA Booklist
This book is by the author of "Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade" and "The Fourth Grade Wizards".
