I did not dislike this book enough to give it 2 stars; but, having given it 3 and saying I liked it I have to say it was my least favorite Harlen Coben novel ever! I'm a huge fan of his but this sure was a let down. Yes, the book is full of surprises but Jake is too full of self-pity for me and his obsession to find Natalie was a bit much. The outcome was very predictable; much like a Steel or Sparks book. Coben has and can do so much better.

I know the author's name, Harlan Coben, is written on the cover but Six Years is not Coben's normal high quality cadence or verbiage. The prose and disjointed thought process is like someone who is taking a 'how to write a novel' course and this is their lame submission. This book reads like the twisted psyche of a female stalker or a love sick women rather than a guy. Jacob Fisher has such an obsession that by the middle of the storyline, you are fed up with him and wishing for his demise so you are both put out of your misery.

What can I say. Harlan Coben used to be a great read. But basically now his books are all retreads. He writes the same scenario over and over again. Some woman goes missing or presumed for dead for years and some strange occorence happens and he finds her. How many times can you write the same book?? Not wasting my time with this author anymore.

This was a quick read. It was fairly interesting but all in all not that complex or deep. I didn't fid anything unique or particularly original. Pleasant enough...just rather ordinary, in my opinion.

When Natalie married Todd, Jake Sanders was at the wedding. Jake couldn't believe that Natalie would break up with him and marry a total stranger days later. She made Jake promise never to contact her again. Now six years later, Jake comes across Todd's obituary. He has never gotten over Natalie and wonders if he should contact her. Jake finds himself flying across the country to attend Jake's funeral. But when he sees Todd's widow, Jake is stunned to see she is not Natalie. Everyone claims that Todd and his wife have been married for years. As Jake begins a search for her, he finds that every trace of her has been wiped clean.
This book is certainly a page-turner. I had a hard time setting it down. Jake is a great character you can't help but root for. He is determined to find Natalie, no matter that everyone keep warning him off. Neither kidnapping nor a beating will make him stop. Jake goes to extremes at some points and doesn't really think out his plans in advance which sometimes drove me crazy.

Started out quick, and interesting. This book was about 50 pages longer than it needed to be, found myself skimming to get to the conclusion.
What a disappointment! I did not finish this book. The writing style is not what I have come to expect from this author. It was a hodgepodge of sophomoric thoughts, poorly expressed. It will be a long time before I buy another Coben book.
A very satisfying Harlan Coben novel, this book starts with one puzzle piece and takes you on a ride, giving you a new puzzle piece in every chapter. Then the story throws in an unexpected twist that makes it all the more exciting and really keeps you guessing.

A strange book, not compelling as I thought it would be per reviews I have read but a rambling story line and pat conclusion. It was OK is best I can say.

I usually like Coben's books but this one was terrible, by the half way mark I thought I was reading A Beautiful Mind, then the pages got to be just too wordy without any helpful meaning and just made the story way too long, drawn out, boring, confusing, complicated dribble

I read SIX YEARS with a reading buddy in my online book club, The Reading Cove. If this was an attempt at exploring the passion and depth of love found and then lost, please insert laughter here! LOL
So Jake dates Natalie for a little over 3 months before Natalie dumps him and marries another. At her wedding, she makes Jake promise to leave them alone. For good.
Flip the page 6 years and Jake has still not moved on from his obsession with Natalie. And what's more? He is now primed to break that pesky promise and go chasing after Natalie, even at the risk of his own and other people's lives.
And, trust me, the whole thing is mindless reading at its worst.
This really could've been a quality mystery, but it's not. It's a very poorly constructed and extremely shallow pseudo love story. There is nothing in the narrative that even remotely supports Jake's dogged motivation to continue his pursuit. Why are we supposed to care what happens? Where's the tension? Perhaps if they'd had a history of more than three months (3 WHOLE MONTHS!) there could've been some much-needed depth and passion found in the plot. As it is, it was painfully hollow. A waste of time I could've spent reading something else.
I'm sorry, but when you have to turn your brain off to enjoy a story, it's no longer clever. So I could only recommend this for teenagers. If you're looking for a quality mystery/suspense, I highly recommend THE ACCIDENT by Linwood Barclay, vs. wasting your time on an assembly line production like this. 1/5 stars.

A well-plotted thriller which follows Coben's pattern of putting ordinary people into harm's way. However, this time as the underlying situation became more and more clear, the plot lost plausibility for me, making the reading of the book ultimately unsatisfying.
This is only the second time I've read this author, and contrary to other reviews, I felt it was riveting. Don't know why I left it on the shelf for so long. It is nearly an all-nighter. I found it exciting and totally unpredictable. Could hardly put it down to sleep! So if this is rated poorly by others who know him better, I will really look forward to the next one on my shelf! D.
Six Years is a very intriguing book. Mr. Coben weaves great plot lines and has kept me in suspense. Thanks PBS for carrying this book.
An excellent audio. Love the narrator, Scott Brick too. The book kept turning in every which way keeping the listener glued. There were a couple of slow areas but they didn't last long. Harlan Coben is one of my favorite authors. No two of his books seem alike in any way. Hope you enjoy it as much as I.
He's always enjoyable, I couldn't put this down (actually, I could, but why?), however, it was rather far fetched.
Per usual I pick up a Coben book to read for a little while and the next thing you know, no laundry, no cooking, no errands,no dinner. Had to order pizza! I can't seem to put anything this man writes down. Not complicated to follow, the rising action rises, then rises again, surprise towards what I thought was the climax was not it got better!!!! Love this author.

I love stories with unreliable narrators, and professor Jake Fisher is about as sketchy as they come. When paired with a plot with a satisfying number of good twists and some genuine surprises, Six Years is one of my favorite reads of the year.
The story follows Jake as he tries to unravel the mystery of his lost love Natalie, a woman he last saw at her wedding six years ago. When he learns Natalie's husband has died, Jake feels pulled to seek her out and at least pay his respects. But when he arrives at the funeral, another grieving woman is there professing to be the widow -- and no one has heard of Natalie.
Jake becomes obsessed with finding Natalie, and learning the truth about their relationship and why she left him. However, he's stymied at every turn. Is his memory playing tricks on him? Is he mentally ill? Was there ever a relationship with Natalie to begin with?
And then there are the sinister men who've started to follow him at every turn.
This is a fantastic read, and one I can't wait to tell people about. If you need a good beach book this summer, Six Years is it.

I think that a testament to the greatness of a book is the ability to devour 350+ pages in one sitting because you cannot stop reading. This is a far-fetched but well thought out thriller. The mystery is good and keeps you guessing throughout the entire story. Another great book by one of my favorite authors.
