I have read nearly all of Elmer Kelton's books, and he remains my favorite Western author. I regret that he has died.

Nearly all of his books take place in Texas. I'm not a native Texan, but I have lived in the Great State for more than half my life (I turned 83 in Dec). I was stationed on four different Texas Air Force bases during my career. My last active duty assignment was Carswell AFB on the west side of Fort Worth, where I retired in 1977.

I did marry a native Texan, and we had 35 good years together before she passed away.
