This is number 1 in the Emma Fielding Mystery books. Author Aaron Elikns, say, "A rip-roaring good mystery. Dana Cameron knows archaelogy inside and out,and on top of that she's witty. That's a pretty good combination if you ask me." And even thought her digs are mostly in the US without the exotic settings of a foreign or ancient dig, they are still most enjoyable. And bodies are likely to show up just about anywhere, some old and some new! If you are intrigued in what goes on day-to-day on a dig, then Emma is your teacher. Of course, she is a professor of Old & New World archaeology, which gives her credibility!

First in series. Emma Fielding is brilliant dedicated driven archaelogist working a dig in coastal Maine; finds a settlement pre-dating Jamestown....and murder. good series

OK archaelogical mystery. The main character and the others were personable and likeable but the story moved slowly.

I enjoy the Emma Fielding series - as an archaeologist, she uncovers some interesting mysteries.

great "cosy," with a touch of archaeology, a touch of early American history, a touch of romance, added to the mystery. I think this is the first of the Emma Fielding series
