Vampire anthology...14 original stories about female vamps and their prey...
This is a great collection of off-beat vampire tales, sometimes from the view of the vampires themselves, sometimes from the viewpoint of those who live (or don't live!) around them. I highly recommend it.
From back cover: The most deadly women in the world---
Barbara Hambly, bestselling author of THOSE WHO HUNT THE NIGHT, and Martin H. Greenberg, one of the most respected editors in the fields of science fiction and fantasy, present an inventive collection of stories by award-winning authors including Larry Niven, Tanith Lee, Jane Yolen, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Pat adigan, and more.
Fourteen original tales written especially for this book about the most terrifying, mysterious, sensual women of all---SISTERS OF THE NIGHT
They're everywhere, and nowhere. From ancient days to here and now, stalkingnocturnal forests, city lights, and suburban PTAs. They're blessed and cursed, feared and adored. One may be your officemate, a stranger on the street, your best friend's mom---your lost dream. Your destiny. Or you . . .

As with any anthology, I liked some of the stories more than others, but overall this was a quite good collection of stories of female vampires. The fourteen selections were all exclusive to this volume, so I hadn't read them before (with the exception of the (long) Niven selection, which was later published in one of his Ringworld novels - not my favorite). There's also a high-tier collection of authors:
Contents:
Empty / M. John Harrison
The Bloodbeast / Diana L. Paxson
Madeleine / Barbara Hambly
Mama / Steve and Melanie Tem
Survival Skills / Deborah Wheeler
Tumbling Down the Nighttime / Dean Wesley Smith
La Dame / Tanith Lee
Sometimes Salvation / Pat Cadigan
In the Blood / Michael Kurland
Victims / Kristine Kathryn Rusch
Maríd and the Trail of Blood / George Alec Effinger
Food Chain / Nina Kiriki Hoffman
Song of the Night People / Larry Niven
Sister Death / Jane Yolen

Easy reading..most of the stories good...one a little long and drawn out for a short story. Some clever twists in several that fans of vampires will enjoy.
