Huge disappointment!
SPOILERS?
1. Lane (brother) Harper (sister)
2. Candace (new wife, sister-in-law)
3. Elise (bratty daughter of Harper), Jackson (sees dead people?)

These are the main characters and as you read you won't like any of them!

1. Harper finds her husband dead with a knife sticking in him, she calls her brother and they make it look like a robbery so she can collect insurance
2. Months pass and Harper and her two kids move in with Lane and new wife while waiting for investigation to be over on how her husband was killed
3. instant clash between Candace/Harper
4. secrets keep popping up

This is a long drawn out sloooooooooow, draaaaaaaaaaggy story that at times it is just duuuuuull and borrrrrring!

I managed to get to the halfway point but it was a struggle, Crane inserted so much in italics (peeve of mine) and so much information that I kept saying 'what does this have to do with anything?'
I'm a very picky reader and I have to be consumed by the halfway point or 100 pages and this one did not do it!
I didn't like any of the characters and the story was dumb!

The Sister-in-Law is domestic suspense that explores motherhood, family, and the power (and danger) of secrets. [TW: abuse, miscarriage, toddler death]

I have three sisters-in-law but thankfully none of them are like Harper or Candace! Both women are linked by Lane, Harper's beloved brother and Candace's new husband. After Harper's husband is found dead in their home, she and her children move into Lane's house and abruptly end his honeymoon period with Candace.

But there are so many questions. How did Harper's husband die? Why did Lane and Candace marry so quickly? What secret is Harper's 6-year-old son keeping? Is Candace who she claims to be?

This was a quick and fun read, but the pacing is more suspense than thriller, the twists aren't so twisty, and the ending felt anti-climactic although fairly realistic.

Thank you to William Morrow for the review copies.
