Unfortunately, the Bridgerton sisters' stories aren't as enjoyable as the brothers', in my opinion. This one was decent but definitely on the bottom of my Bridgerton favorites list.

What a delightful read this is. Julia Quinn is a new author to me, but this certainly makes me want to read more.
Sir Philip corresponds with a 28 year-old spinster, thinking she would be grateful to be asked to marry him and to be a mother to his eight-year-old twins who are a definite hand-full. When Eloise arrives, she not only discovers that there is no chaperone, but that he has children whom he hadn't mentioned. Then her four brothers get into the act, and it gets even more interesting!

I thought this made for a decently romantic read. I enjoyed the "snippets" of Eloise's letters at the beginning of each chapter and I, like many other readers, thought the "rescue" scene was one of the best. I also enjoyed the way the children were used...their scenes with Eloise and their father were very natural and realistic. However, if anything, I would suggest you read the book for the romantic gesture Sir Phillip made towards Eloise at the ending of the book (hint: letter trail). I actually clutched the book to my chest and sighed. *laugh Maybe I'm just a romantic at heart but I thought it was so sweeeet. *smile A fairly enjoyable read.

Loved, loved, loved this book. I am definitely having a hard time letting this one go. So sweet and warm and of course lusty. hee hee

I read two other books from the series which I liked, but this one actually disturbed me. Phillip clearly has problems based on his childhood, his late wife, and his interaction with his kids. However, there seemed to no real move to have him get over them. It seemed Eloise was supposed to come in and change her life for him. While I didn't like the book, I wasn't really disturbed until the end. I won't give too much away, but the interaction between Eloise and Phillip while in front of the painting seemed to illustrate his serious mental problems and her willingness to enable him. I know, I know, I'm reading too much into the story. I'll just finish with that it wasn't the story line that was off, I just did not like Phillip.
