Classic Baldacci. Though the pace is not as breath-taking as some of his other books, this story is intriguing on several levels, and I have enjoyed it as much as and more than his other novels. It is Sean and Michelle again, this time in Tidewater Virginia. Plenty of adventure, some surprises along the way, and over all, just a good, fun read.

The story is extremely good. The characters are believable. It was hard to put down. The subject matter almost seems like it could even be true. It gives a scarey impression of what some people will do for what they claim is the "good of the nation or even national security".

"Simple Genius" is not Baldacci's best work. The plot was solid, but lacked the terrific suspense that permeates some of his other works and the ending left too many unanswered questions.

A really good book, Simple Genius is typical Baldacci work. He really draws interesting characters and involves them in surprising plot twists and action. I would recommend this book to all lovers of mystery/thrillers.

A good book. Kept me guessing until the end.
I enjoyed this book, as I always enjoy David Baldacci's books. It wasn't my favorite of his but good nonetheless.

There is a psychiatrist in this Sean King and Michelle Maxwell adventure. I enjoyed the psycho babble; you may or may not. Also, it had an unexpected ending. The story gave no hints to the unexpected ending and I did not like that but othewise I enjoyed the story.

Near Washington, D.C., there are two clandestine institutions: the world's most unusual laboratory and a secret CIA training camp. Drawn to these sites by a murder, ex-Secret Service agent Sean King encounters a dark world of mathematicians, codes, and spies. His search for answers soon leads him to more shocking violence - and an autistic girl with an extraordinary genius. Now, only by working with his embattled partner, Michelle Maxwell, can he catch a killer ... and solve a stunning mystery that threatens the entire nation.

My Review
I enjoy reading about Michelle Maxwell and Sean King's relationship and adventures. This book was very good but a little slow in some parts but picked up towards the end. It was a fun read trying to figure out exactly what was going on behind the gates at Camp Peary. Figuring out who was good and who was bad also added to the plot and kept me guessing until the very end. I will definitely continue reading the series and I do look forward to the next installment and what will be happening with Michelle and Sean. I would highly recommend this series to those who love mystery and adventure mixed in with a little romance.

In a world of secrets, human genius is power. And sometimes it is simply deadly... A three-hour drive from Washington, D.C., two clandestine institutions face each other across a heavily guarded river. One is the world's most unusual laboratory, whose goals and funding are a mystery. The other is an elite CIA training camp shrouded in secrecy. Now a man and a woman are about to run a gauntlet between these two puzzle factories, straight into a furious struggle to exploit a potentially world-shattering discovery--and keep some other secrets under wraps forever...
Former secret service agents turned private investigators Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have seen their lives splinter around them. Michelle lies unconscious in a hospital bed after a night of suicidal violence. And Sean is forced to take on a thankless investigation into the murder of a scientist just inside the CIA's razor-wire fence near Williamsburg, Virginia.
Soon he is uncovering layer after layer of disinformation that shields a stunning world filled with elite mathematics, physicists, war heroes, spies, and deadly field agents. Amid more murder, a seemingly autistic girl's extraordinary genius, and a powerful breakthrough in the realm of classified codes, Sean soon learns enough to put his life at risk. Now more than ever, he needs Michelle--at her best--to help stop a conspiracy of traitors operating in the shadow of the White House itself.
From Michelle's courageous struggle to defeat her long-buried personal demons to a centuries-old secret that surfaces in the heat of action, SIMPLE GENIUS pulses with stunning, high-intensity suspense. The heroes of Split Second and Hour Game, David Baldacci's #1 New York Times bestsellers, are back--as you've never seen them before.

Private Investigator Sean King has been hired to look into the death of Monk Turing, a physicist whose body was found at a secret CIA Training Camp. Was it suicide or murder? Monk worked at a laboratory named Babbage Town, a private facility across the York River from the training camp. Sean moves into Babbage Town to interview Monk's co-workers and learn what he was working on before his death. With the help of his partner, Michelle Maxwell, Sean needs to uncover the truth of what is happening across the river.
This book started off with Michelle entering a mental hospital after nearly being killed in a barroom brawl. I enjoyed Michelle's conversations with her psychiatrist and the intrigues at the hospital. Sean's portion of the story started off well, but slowed down to a crawl in the middle of the book. Happily, when Michelle joins him in Babbage Town, the story picks up and gets hard to put down. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
