What an amazing book! I read an excerpt of this in one of my women's magazines and immediately ran out and bought the book. It is such a sweet tale of a man who farms christmas trees and sells them in New York. Its a tale of how he tries to raise his two children by farming, all on his own, since his wife passed away. This is a very heartfelt story and the perfect one to read while curled up infront of the fire and christmas tree!!

If you are a Luanne Rice fan, you will undoubtedly like this book. She has a way of spinning family's troubles and the need for togetherness into something beautiful and something your heart will ache to finish. Silver Bells is a much shorter story, with less character development than her other stories, but she still has the power to make your heart feel what the characters are going though. I throughly enjoyed reading a holiday romance that wasn't trashy or completely unbelievable.
This book helps us to see that when we are looking for a sign it isn't always what we expect it to be.
Very good book by a popular author.
This is a very heart touching story of a family struggeling through the growing years of their children. An excellent winter read!
A perfect story for the holidays!

A wonderful "Christmas" read
A holiday story about a Christmas Tree farmer who comes to New York City to sell his trees each year for the month of December. Story of him and his children and their relationships and a young widow who is having trouble moving on. Story made into a TV movie.
What a wonderful Christmas story! Some parts made me smile and other parts made me cry. I loved reading it.
This a beautiful, sweet Christmas story! I really enjoyed it very much! Hallmark has made a movie called Silver Bells based on this book. It's a good movie too.
This is a nice and pleasant read, especially during the Holiday Season.
Christmas story of a Manhattan woman and a widowed christmas tree seller will rediscover the magic of the season
Catherine Tierney, a corporate librarian who lives in a 19th-century townhouse on a quaint street in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea, used to love Christmas until her husband, Brian, died of cancer. Each year, she awaits a sign from him that'll let her know he's watching over her. Christy Byrne, a widower from Nova Scotia, is in Manhattan with his 12-year-old daughter, Bridget, to sell his Christmas trees. Every night he leaves his boarding house in Chelsea to go looking for his estranged 16-year-old son, Danny, who ran off the year before. When Danny resurfaces and it's revealed that he's been living on the streets with the help of Catherine and her friend Lizzie, they all realize that their paths have crossed many times, and that they've touched each other's lives more than they could imagine. Thrown together in their shared concern for Danny, Christy and Catherine help each other forget their troubled pasts and move toward the future together.
Wonderful Christmas story of a widow who refuses to go on with her life and a Christmas tree salesman looking for his son who has run away.
This is a good read for the holidays.
Nice Story to remind us about the important things to remember during the holidays when everything gets crazy.
Wonderful book...Luanne Rice has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I also enjoy the timeliness of the season....Christmas is approaching and this book was set at Christmas time in New York!
Nice Christmas Story
Made into a Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie
A little tough to get into. Not the best book of hers I've read.
I had to read this for a Book Club. I never would have picked this out to read and didn't really care for it. The rest of my group loved it.
A nice Christmas story. Not her best, though.

Every year on the first day of December, Christopher Byrne traveled from his farm in Nova Scotia to sell his Christmas trees on the streets of Manhattan. But this year there'd be no cheer for the widower and his twelve-year-old daughter, Bridget. For New York City had taken Christy's only son, headstrong sixteen-year-old Danny, who'd run off without a trace.
Librarian Catherine Tierney used to love the holidays: the lights, the carols, the nip in the air. But after her husband's death on Christmas Eve three years ago, the festivities seemed to start too early and last too long. Just before he died, Brian told his wife that he'd never leave her, that every Christmas he'd send Catherine a sign. On the quaint Chelsea street where she lives, Catherine will meet the tree seller from Novia Scotia. Both figured the world had forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. But they hadn't counted on finding each other, on fate, on second chances. . . and on a holiday gift of new love and new hope to last a lifetime.
