I loved this book - although buyer/reader beware this is not a politically correct book. The majority of this novel takes place in a harem and has to do with women being captured and sold into slavery. Now if you are like me and not a politically correct person - I think you will really enjoy this book. Our heroine is a rich English heiress whose father has just died and is now being pushed into an unwanted marriage by her overbearing guardian. She decides to run away until she can come of age but then is captured by a Turkish pirate ship. Once they see her beauty and her violet eyes and silver hair they know she will bring them a fortune in the slave markets. So she is taken and sold into the harem of the local Dey - but all is not what it appears for a plot is afoot to assassinate the Dey and some interesting subterfuge is in place to foil the plotters. Great page turner that had me hooked from the start - loved this book!

It is a Lindsey so a good read, but not one of my favorites. It took 140 pages before the boy even laid eyes on the girl & another 60 before she saw him. So 200 pages of backgraound before you get to the romance. Don't start unless you have a long attention span.
Once they get together it is a very good story.

This is a fun book to read. Chantelle Burke is kidnapped and sold into slavery. Don't you hate it when that happens?

Good read but a little lengthy & tedious at times. The actual love story is good, when it finally gets going.
Liked Captive Bride much better.

I own every book she has written and my daughter is now collecting them. Johanna Linsay is the best when it comes to historical romance. She has never written a bad book. I There is nothing better on a rainy night than a warm cozy fire and a Johanna Lindsey Book. They are must reads all of them over and over again.

almost didn't finish this book considering how it started, but once I got through the first 8 pages, it was a very good book with an interesting insight into the slave market in the middle east and northern africa areas in the 1800's.

From the back cover...

Chantelle Burke fears her life has ended when she's abducted and sold into slavery. The newest addition to the harem of the mighty Pasha, the proud young Endlishwoman will never call him "master" or bow to his ruthless will. But her resolve weakens once within the silken splendor of his chambers, when she encounters the breathtakingly handsome, powerfully muscular, and surprisingly tender desert chieftain for the first time. Yet, beneath his exotic eastern garb, the Pasha hides his true identity-one he must conceal at all costs...even as her burns to surrender everything to the bewitching Chantelle; his heart, his passion, and his very soul.
