Lenore and her grandmother live in, but are not neither relatives nor servants in a rich English manor house, which contributes to both romance and mystery typical of Holt's historical novels. This one is divided between France and England as the drama unfolds.

This is a good Victoria Holt book. There is a nice, unexpected twist in the middle that changes the whole ending. I like that. :-)

The two main characters in The Silk Vandetta by Victoria Holt are Lenore and her grandmother. They spent all their lives together. They were the only real family they had. One incident that made me really like the book was when Lenore's grandmother found Lenore's father. Lenore then met her father for the first time in her life. When her father found out that she wanted to open a branch of her clothing shop in Paris but she and her grandmother didn't have the money to do it, her father offered to pay for all the expences. At first her pride kept her from letting him pay. But after time her grandmother and sister-in-law wore her down. She then accepted the money from her father so that she could live out her dream. This book took me in from the first page. I love the discription. The scenes it describes seem to jump off the page and into reality. The charcters are so lovable and real. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and suspence.

This one of the most beautifully written stories I have read , I was hooked on this book , really it is amazing. This is the book that started my obession . Lenore is such a beautiful character and Philip is the ideal husband. But it is a tradegy that he dies. It isn't until she unravels his murder, she is able to settle down.
