This Patterson suspense packs a wallop. Tony Lord returns to his home town to defend his childhood best friend in a murder case but it is another case that haunts Tony. Where there are points where the story drags and at some point the plot becomes predictable--that isn't what makes Silent Witness such a great read. It's the characters. All parties involve are multi-dimensional and practically leap off the page as living creations

California defense attorney Tony Lord returns to his hometown of Lake City, Ohio to defend his oldest friend, Sam, who is accused of murdering his 16-year-old lover. The case resonates with Tony because he faced similar accusations 28 years ago when his high school girlfriend was brutally murdered. Although Tony was never charged, the townspeople--Sam included--never fully believed in his innocence. Now Tony must prepare for an emotional trial that echoes the angst and accusations of years past.

I loved this book. Of course I love Richard North Patterson.
A stunning novel of rivalry, friendship, and loss, and how the tragedies of youth can change the course of our adulthood.
A story set in the year 1967 in midwestern America reminds us how tragedies can affect our adult lives.
