A rather dry telling of the author's experiences, some fairly exciting. A lot of projects he was involved in, experience with Rickover, and the military under Kennedy, Nixon and others. It did not grab me but others might like his style as he is thorough in his telling of various events, experiences and the big picture of the cold war. Still, I just could not stick with it and tended to skip a lot of pages.

The Silent War is a look at the darketst days of the Cold War. It includes espionage, high technology and seafaring that the United States employed against the Soviet Union in the battle for nuclear and military supremacy. A must for anyone who is a fan of "The Hunt for Red October".
