I loved this book! I couldn't put it down. It's a really good book that is not a mushy mushy book. It has a good story line without a lot of lovin' ;-)

Dr. Rae is haunted by a memory of her dying mother in an ambulance, and subsequently, is driven with a passion to save the lifes of her high risk OB patients. When mothers begin dying on the operating table, Dr. Rae seeks to understand what is happening, and is unknowlingy thrust into a world of decit and consiparcy. Excllent plot, keeps you up well past midnight because you can't unearth your eyes from the twists and turns. I NEVER would have guessed the ending, very shocking after a nail biting climax. If you enjoy medical stories, or a classic murder mystery, this book's for you!

Here is a medical thriller that is about an black woman obstetrician who is fighting to save the lives of babies and her career. The book is written by a woman obstetrician so the details are authentic and on the cutting edge.

This book is a medical mystery. Dr. Rae Duprey, an obsterician, cares for "bad baby" cases and is determined to find out why things wrong.

"With a smart, feisty heroine and heart-stopping medical emergencies equal to the best of ER, Cuthbert, an obstetrician turned novelist, has produced a chilling medical thriller that should satisfy even the most discriminating fans of those other doctor/writers, Robin Cook and Michael Crichton." ---Bookpage

I thought that this was an interesting read on the medical side of life. It was very interesting and a good read.

I am in the medical profession and really looked forward to reading this book. I'll give the author cheers for a good plot line. Other than that, however, this is the work of a first time author and it shows. The character development is weak and the action jumps from one scene to the next. The entire novel occurs in a very short period of time which I found unrealistic. The dialogue between the characters is horrible and cliched. It was a quick read, however, and had a great plot.

Wow - what a story! This turned out to be a very good, haunting, mysterious book. You feel so sorry for the patients and the doctor that make this seem so real, and actually, it is something that could very well happen. VERY GOOD!

Not a big fan of medical stories but this one was very well written to grab you from page 1 and keep you until the last page, however, there is a lot of repeat in it about what is happening and a lot of that can be skimmed. Liked the fact that there is a little romance in it but not much and you don't have to wade through boring details of kissing, etc.

Medical thriller set in a hospital where someone is murdering new moms and babies. Major plot hole in conclusion, but not a bad read overall.

But when her career is threatened by a series of "bad baby" cases emanating from the politically sensitive virth center across the street - a center run by her ex-lover and nemesis, Bo Michaels - Rae is determined to uncover the truth about why these seemingly routine deliveries are going fatally haywire....
