This was my first Erica Spindler book and it will not be my last. The best written thriller I've read in a long time. I could not put it down ! IN SILENCE is a very suspenseful story told in quicksilver prose.
More than just a beach read, IN SILENCE explores the prejudices and preconceptions that can fulminate in an isolated and insulated community. The deadly consequences born of a narrow worldview that puts one in a position wherein s/he becomes the center of the universe. Spindler examines how ordinary people, who mean no harm, can get caught up in a mob mentality, which reduces individual responsibility for acts they would never commit on their own. Readers may ask themselves, "If my life and the lives of my family members would flourish in perfect surroundings and never be threatened with crime or outside influences, would I choose to live there? And at what price?

Excellent! This book kept me on the edge of my seat- I practically read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down, and the ending caught me completely by surprise. One of the best from a fantastic author!

This was a good read. It is a suspenseful story and keeps you on your toes as you are trying to figure out who the bad guy is. Half way through the book it is pretty obvious that the bad guy will be between a few people but it was still a good read and I would recommend it to others.
I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought it was pretty predictable but there were enough twists, turns and surprises to make it a good read.

Very good book. I was surprised at the ending
residents disappear in the middle of the night in a small town, Avery's dad commits suicide or did he??
Avery Chauvin goes back to her hometown following her father's suicide. However, she doesn't believe that he would have killed himself. As she begins to investigate, she discovers that her father has kept newspaper clippings of a murder that happened in their town 15 years ago. Why would he have kept them? Do the clippings have something to do with his death? Did he commit suicide... or was it murder?
This book was wonderful, definitely one of Spindler's best. Spindler throws so many suspects your way that you won't ever correctly guess the "bad guy" until the very end. Fast-paced thriller that will keep you turning pages... I just *had to* finish it in one night!

This was my first book by Spindler and I loved it-read it in just 4 days. The setting is a small town and Spindler does a great job of painting the picture of small town life. I highly recommend this book.
Her father reported to have committed suicide, brought Avery Chauvin, an investigative journalist back to her small home town to discover things arn't always as they seem. A power packed story of lies and deception. A good read! My first for Spindler, and definitely not my last.
Readers will be pulled inexorably onward by the question of whodunit.
