Old Man hardy was found clawed to death in his snowbound cabin. But the doors & windows were locked from the inside. How could this be? Was he killed by a bear or a murderer?
Police Chief Ray Wilson turns to Diff James for help on this case. Diff is a mute woodsman with an excellent understanding of animals. He came into town about 10 years ago with no memory of his previous life.
As Diff unravels the "impossible" death, danger surrounds him. He is chased by an angry bear. The local "good ole boys" torment him, and he is almost killed. Meanwhile, his nightmares lead him to discover the horrible truth about his life as a youngster
