This was my least favorite of the series. Loved the other two novels but this one felt like it was lacking the horror element.Lots of gore about hacking up zombies but psychological horror was missing.A lot of focus on the characters relationships, love lives and a bit too sappy for my personal tastes. Some characters often came off like they were cartoon super heroes. Maybe a little to one dimensional. For me one of the truly terrifying moments in the book (spoiler alert!)is when Peggy kills her son and herself because she is so terrified of facing the upcoming zombie battle. This part of the story was not very descriptive and was glossed over. The act of killing my own child and myself seems more terrifying to me than the gore stuff. The image of the little fingers under the door is so haunting and I felt this similar moment with Peggy and her son was missed where it could have really left more of a terrifying imprint on the readers.
