Somewhat useful and very, very miscellaneous.

This is a collection of essays about writing nonfiction, most of which essays were previously published and bear the marks of their origin as lectures, book reviews or whatever. The book is not overall assembled with an eye to being meaningful for the reader; it seems to be more a matter of what was at hand and what order to put the components in. With that said, the book does contain some valuable parts, particularly a piece on maintaining a double perspective of what one knew then and what one sees now, and recommended readings that are classified helpfully.
