If you remember "Primal Fear" this is the sequel. The killer is back and he's out for revenge. He's fooled the shrinks, who believe he is cured, and are about to release him. Meanwhile his unknown accomplice has already started eliminating those againse whom he has a grudge.

sequel to "Primal Fear", takes up 10 years after that story ended. I loved picking up where the characters are, and this book is as chilling and scary as the first. Another one that I couldn't put down.

Aaron Stampler dupes his therapist into believing he has a third personality negating his former two. Vail isn't convinced. A good read, well put together.

It begins with a shocking. unsolved murder. In a small town in Soouthern Illinois, the butchered body of Linda Balfour-with a cryptic code printed in blood on the back of her head- forges a gruesome link to the brutal murder of Bishop Rushman, the beloved Chicago clergyman who had been dismembered years before by the angelic-looking altar boy, Aaron Stampler. The same Aaron Stampler whom defense attorney Martin Vail saved from the electric chair.... Now Vail is Chicago's chief prosecutor, facing the nightmare of his life. If Stampler has been locked away in a high_security institution for the past ten years, how could he have killed Linda Balfour? Then another alter boy aturns up dead with a similar inscription in blood on the back of his head. If Aaron Stampler isn't committing these killings, who is? Martin Vail's career-maybe even his life-hangs on the answer

Even better than the first!! The story is gripping and involves so much more than just more Stampler/Vail to keep the reader engaged.

Sort of a follow up to the more well known Primal Fear. Same genre though

A psycho-thriller that will have you on the edge of your chair. You think you have it figured out, and then you don't, then you think you do , but you don't. A must read for mystery buffs.

Murder in a small town in Illinois may be linked to the murder, years before, of a Chicago clergyman. Attorney Martin Vail saved killer Aaron Stampler from the electric chair then.

Now there are murders that bear the identical MO, but Stampler is still locked up.

Martin Vail is Chicago's chief prosecutor, who is now facing the worst nightmare of his life.

Wow, I really enjoyed this book. The clever, evil Aaron Stampler rears his ugly head once again in this psychological/ctime thriller. The characters that Diehl created are so real, you feel you might run into them on the street and know them instantly. The author's descriptive talent is extraordinary. There is even a bit of romance thrown in, but don't let it sidetrack you. No matter how closely you follow the trail that Diehl lays out, you won't expect the ending.

it begins with a shocking, unsolved murder. In a small town in southern Illinois, the butchered body of Linda Balfour -- with a cryptic code printed in blood on the back of her head -- forges a gruesome link to the brutal murder of Bishop Rushman, the beloved Chicago clergyman who had been dismembered years before by the angelic-looking altar boy. Aaron Stampler. The same Aaron Stampler who defense attorney Martin Vail saved from the electric chair.

It's ten years since crack defense attorney Martin Vail saved (evil!) Aaron Stampler's life in court. Now Vail works for the other side, as the Chicago DA. The bodies are piling up and the MO sure looks like Stampler's work. But wait--Stampler remains safely behind bars at a psychiatric facility.

Installment two in this riviting series will suck you in, deprive you of sleep, and force you to read in the office restroom to find out who's doing what to whom. Diehl's expert plotting and engrossing style makes a long story all too short. But that's OK, since installment three is waiting for you when you finish this one.
