Really excellent read---I could hardly put it down. Patty Taylor grew up in an abusive, alcoholic household and graduated into a dysfunctional relationship while still young. When he is tossed into prison for drug-dealing, she is left alone and pregnant. It's only when she becomes the unwanted lead singer for a band and has to confront her boyfriend after he is released from prison, that she really takes a stand. Lisa Tucker does an excellent job of giving Patty a voice and making you sorrow or celebrate with her. I enjoyed the book so much, I am going onto PBS as soon as I finish this review to look for Tucker's debut book, The Song Reader.

This is an excellent book! I've also read "The Song Reader" and enjoyed that just as much. This author has become a new favorite. I look forward to reading her other books, whenever they come!

Awesome story about a woman who finds herself. I like the love story that emerges toward the end, but I mostly admire the herione's inner strength.

I just read this book in 24 hours, down with a cold. I liked it. Easy to read, characters are delineated nicely, suspense evolves, I cared about the heroine. Like a trailer trash story, but not quite. Child of an alchoholic has to pave her own way, with a child and the child's bad Daddy. I like the music subtext. Am going to order Lisa Tucker's first book.

Excellent book-- one of the better books I have read in awhile. The characters are so real and the book itself is hard to put down. Highly recommend!

Read this book in a day! I love the author! The only thing that really kept me annoyed about the character in this book is how she couldn't admit the hurt this man was causing her from the beginning? How come it took that long to finally realize that he was going to continue hurting her. Other than that, it was a great read.
