This is the best out of the 3 trilogys that Gordon korman has written! A definate must read for anyone who likes adventure! Luke, J.J., Lyssa, Will, Ian, and Charla all get sent on a boat trip called Charting-a-New-Course (CNC) for each supposibly doing (or acting) wrong. The two shipmates try to "teach" them how to keep the ship running, and that leads them to make it sink. The sinking ship leads the kids on an adventure where they land on an un-charted island. Will they survive? Read the books to find out! A definate 5 stars!
fun adventure
Six kids stranded on a deserted island--- a survival story.
These books are very good. I purchased them while teaching a reading course for 7th and 8th graders and I was very interested in the plot and characters--especially as they are written for the 11-15 year old crowd! They remind me of the Lost series on TV, so the plot isn't exactly new, but kids will love them.
Shipwreck is the first book in the Island series by Gordon Korman. The book begins with 6 children on a boat, and it is revealed that this boat is a sort of juvenile detention on water. Each of the children has a different story and a different reason for being there, but all differences become forgotten when the boat gets shipwrecked and the children, abandoned by the first mate and captain, are left to survive the ocean on their own. A gripping story of survival. As a young teen i very much enjoyed this book and couldnt wait to read the rest of the series. Compelling book for children - your child won't be able to put it down.
6 kids are stuck on an island because of a shipwreck. They must survive the storm and find food and shelter.
Very goodbook got it from my gdaughter book fair
This is Book One of the series.
The story of a group of children shipwrecked on an island and what they must do to survive, good story for the 10-12 year olds.
A good read for middle school boys. :)
It was a nice short read. It's one of those books that makes you wonder what you would do in their shoes.
Really good and suspenceful
this is the first book - 6 kids shipwrecked on an island. It's aboout survival.
Korman is great read for kids - and I really enjoyed his books even as an adult.
the only thing I would prefer is that the books were sold in sets or instead of small series books have them all combined in one larger book - because it's difficult to find all the books in a series.
It's awful to invest time in a book where you don't get to find out what happens next. So get all the books before you start reading them or give them to your kids because each book is a continuation of the last and you have to read them in order.

A group of troubled kids are sent on a character building experience at sea and are stranded. This would be a great book for reluctant young readers. The kids come from a variety of backgrounds, so I think any kid would find a character to identify with and the action will keep them interested.
