Usually I'm slightly irritated by short story collections because I enjoy full length novels so much more, but this was a great treat while waiting for the next book to come out. Only one of the stories directly features Mercy, but it was a pleasure to visit the worlds of the characters from the series.

I love Patricia Brigg's novels and short stories and I waited as long as I could, hoping I'd get a copy of this anthology from PBS. Finally gave up and bought it - so it's a win-win! I get to read it and so do PBS members!

If you're a Mercy or Alpha and Omega fan, you're in for so many treats, it's like a smorgasbord. 4 completely new short stories: Silver (the origin story for Samuel and Ariana), Roses in Winter (Asil, the very old werewolf now living at the Marrok's compound), Redemption (the werewolf Ben from Moon Called gets his own story) and Hollow (a Mercy Thompson story). There's also two outtakes from Silver Borne and Night Broken that revisit the stories from another character's perspective. I loved all the new stuff and re-read all the older stories (who doesn't like to re-read Alpha and Omega?) - they're all very satisfying if you're already a fan and hella fun if you've just discovered Briggs.

I loved all the stories from all over the world of Mercy and her friends. It answered questions. I gave more questions. But I am happy she choose to put this book of stories together because I had only read one of them in an anthology and it is important to this world and give you insights on many key players!
