Four great stories. I bought it for Lora Leigh's Breed Series. Angela Knight is always great. I enjoyed the other two stories. I would read more from these authors.
Angela Knight- Mad Dog Love- The year 2450, a betrayed werewolf captured into slavery is sold to a disguised runaway Empress. The Empress is trying to reach her Rebel Leader cousin who is rightfully the Emperor. The werewolf is trying to escape to rejoin the rebels. Political intrigue, betrayals and heat make this a great Angela Knight story.
Lora Leigh- A Jaguar's Kiss- Part of the Breed series. Divorced teacher gets coveted 1st non-breed teacher position. Jaguar Sebastion escorts her to Sanctuary. He has been watching her for weeks and knows she is his mate. Her verbally abusive cheating ex-husband is used by The Council to kidnap her. Another great, short addition to the Breed series.
Alyssa Day- Shifter's Lady-An Atlantian Priestess journeys to Florida to meet her brother's new wife, a shapeshifting panther. She meets the sister-in-law and SIL's Alpha pridebrother and sparks fly. The Atlantian brother leaves to help locate a fellow soldier. Texas panther plan to overthrow the Alpha and kill the pride to avenge Texas panther's sisters death. His sister was the Alpha's wife, Fallan. She betrayed the Alpha to join the Vampires. The Vampires killed her. Interesting story. I'd like to read the rest of the series.
Virgina Kantra- Sea Crossing- A raped and ruined schoolteacher travels to Canada to escape being Mistress to a Governor of the School who attacked her. Her ship is damaged during a storm. She falls overboard and is rescued by a seal shifter. Seal Shifter wants her to teach pre-shift children.

Wow! Warning: This book is not for the shy or prudish!! This book was hot! hot! hot! The stories were very erotic and left your heart beating just a little bit quicker. I would definitly read more stories from each author.

A Jaguar's Kiss was my favorite story in this whole book, and it made the whole thing worth it. :D

Loved the Angela Knight one best. Original and interesting, wish it was a novel! The other 3 were enjoyable also, even though Lora Leigh seems to write the same story every time.

Lately I have almost enjoyed the short stories in these books in the Breed series more than the full length books. Loved Saban's story because again he is trying to get her to love him first & not just be overtaken by the mating heat. Ready to read the next book.

These were just to short and didn't seem to be finished stories to me. Could of been so much better. Not bad though for quick reads.

Four yummy stories from some of my favorite authors! If you like short stories these are all pretty good. My only issue is that as soon as I get into them, their over. I guess the curse of a short story.

Good book - well constructed short stories
4 stories in one book. Good to Fair in that order. Shifter's Lady was good but as you proceed through the other stories the story lines declined in my opinion.

The fun thing about these short story anthologies is that they (like life) are a lot like a box of chocolates on sale after Valentines Day, except that just to make it interesting, someone has taken the sheet that explains what all of the chocolate flavors and centers are, leaving you to just kind of grab one and guess. If the chocolate is one of the dark chocolate covered peanut butter ones, its great and youre in good shape! If its say, one of those weird apricot ones, well, at least its over quickly.
Such is definitely the case with Shifter. The first story, Mad Dog Love by Angela Knight, toes the line between quirky but fun paranormal romance and weird apricot chocolate territory. Its the story of enslaved werewolf Rance Conlan and empress of the future Zarifa Lorezo and their adventures finding her outlaw brother. Anyone whos ever read her Mageverse series knows that Angela Knight definitely isnt afraid to take ideas that dont seem to have anything to do with each other, like Arthurian legends and vampires or, in this case, werewolves and space, and jam them together until somehow, a story emerges. A story does emerge here, but its not a life-changing one by any stretch.
The second offering, Lora Leighs A Jaguars Kiss, is definitely more interesting. A short entry in her Breeds series, this is the story of Natalie Ricci (a human) and Saban Broussard (a laboratory experiment where human and jaguar DNA were combined to create a supersoldieror something) and it not only does well as a stand-alone story, it also got me interested in reading more of the Breed series.
Up next is Shifters Lady by Alyssa Day, which is part of the Warriors of Poseidon series. Ive read the first two (I think) books in the series, and honestly Im no closer to deciding whether I like them or not than I was before reading this. Ethan is a panther shifter trying to solve a rash of assaults and murders; Marie is the First Maiden of the Nereids who hasnt ever left Atlantis until now. There wasnt anything inherently wrong with the story that developed from this premise; I was just left feeling kind of disinterested in what happened to Ethan, Marie, any other characters from the series, or the world that they all share.
Of the four authors included here, Virginia Kantra was the only one I hadnt come across before reading, and her Sea Crossing was, in my opinion, the most innovative story of the four. The beginning of the story reads like your standard Regency romanceyoung woman is ruined by her youthful indiscretions and is setting off to start a new life away from the society that wants nothing to do with her. While en route, shes shipwrecked, rescued by a mysterious stranger, and brought to a strange town of sorts to recover. So far, so good, right? Except the town is populated by selkies, people who can turn into seals, and her ship was wrecked on purpose so the seal/people children could have a teacher. Griff, the hero of the story, has to figure out how to explain all this to Emma, the heroine, without it sounding as crazy as all that. Its definitely a unique premise and it worked for me.
Reviewing anthologies is tough because each story has to rely on the other ones for cohesiveness, and one clunker can definitely offset the enjoyment of the others. Shifter isnt a perfect story collection by any stretch, but the selection of authors represented and the diversity of the stories work well together, and although some of the stories werent my cup of tea theyre a good, cheap way to discover new authors without having to sit through a full-length novel.

Ok. I am a fan of the paranormal romances, especially vampires and werewolves but this was too out there for me. Now, I am not an avid paranormal romance reader, so men who turn into seals might work for you but not for me. They seemed like decent stories for the multi-story book. But I think I will stick with vamps and were's from now on.

Interesting book. Short stories to read through fast. For the most part, I liked all the stories, some more than others, but that's what you get in an anthology!

Great book for the two stories I read of Jaguar's Kiss, its a quick read and very steamy. Also read Sea Crossing, also a quick read and very interesting, but in Sea Lord you will find out what happen with the couple. The two stories I read I rated it 5 stars but I wasn't liking the other two stories unless I read more of the series they came from.

I love the authors in their other series. This was a good read. You can tie each story into the other series. Good Adult romance. I am new to Angela Knight, but she is right in line with the other authors. A good read that allows you to see others sides to minor characters from other series.

I did not like this book very much. Only story that was any good was Shifters Lady and that ended abruptly. Couldn't read Jaguars Kiss way too erotic for me-every other line was erotic.
