This manga adaptation is great if you've already seen the TV show, and I believe it stands up very well on its own, too. It's based directly on the script for the show, so there are little moments that are slightly different from the filmed version (enlightening moments for a TJLCer!).
The artwork is excellent, truly resembling the actors and obviously created by a very experienced manga artist (the cover is drawn by the artist who did the actual art for the book, so no false advertising here).
The book is fast-paced, like the show, and doesn't skimp on detail. I thought the book could have been just slightly longer, to allow for more fully illustrated reactions/body language/expressions, but it's a minor quibble.
Very satisfying for a fan of the show, or for an adventurous canon Holmes fan who wants to try something different.
