historical romance novel... well written despite the subject matter of an emotionally abusive husband.

A typical English romance. Very good. A fast read.

Coulter is still new to me so I'm not sure if this is typical of her style. The book starts really slow and you have to get through Douglas being a really huge, emotionally abusive jerk. It is kind of the same for his cousin's treatment of Alex's sister, except she kind of deserves it. Some of it was hard to stomach but Alex's outbursts and toughness kept me reading. I'm glad I finished the book because Douglas does change and his family is fun to read about.

Great series. So sorry for heroine until she gets some backbone & gives it back. Loved it.

I'd give this a B-. Dated style. Good story, a little too much bodice ripping and breast fondling for my taste.
