Bradley's strength in the Darkover novels was in the amazingly detailed and internally consistent universe she created. This post-Terran-contact story of a Terran agent who inadvertently becomes a Free Amazon, is rich enough with those details that it helps overcome a rather routine plot.
Darkover novel that takes place before Thendara House and deals with the Renunciates and the Dry Towns. A must read for Darkover fans!
