Scientist Halina Beloi has been in hiding for the last seven years. She is living off the grid with her German Sheppard, Dex, when Mitch Foster tracks her down. Seven years ago, Mitch and Halina were in love and living happily together when she suddenly left him claiming that she was already married. Now Mitch believes she is the scientist behind the chemicals that harmed a group of firefighters during a warehouse fire. He knows she was working for Senator Gil Schaeffer, a man who Mitch has been trying to pin down for various crimes. But now that Mitch has finally caught up with Halina, he discovers that someone else wants the formula to Halina's chemicals and will do anything to get her.

This is the last book in the Phoenix Rising series. I would advise reading this series in order or you will be lost. Mitch along with his sister and the firefighters that were injured in an explosion a few years ago have been working to find the person behind the explosion and discover how they acquired paranormal powers. I liked the suspense plot with someone trying to kidnap Halina out from under Mitch's nose. And I liked that all of the characters from the previous books in the series are involved in this book. I didn't care for the fighting and anger between Mitch and Halina. It just went on too long in the story. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

I have loved Mitch since the first book. I was so excited to read this and was not disappointed at all. Mitch was just as snarky and loveable as he was in the first book. I especially loved how he was with the kids. Halina/Heather was no slacker and gave better than she got.

Now I'm hoping that Kai is next, and then Seth and then Cash....and what about Owen
