It's an easy read. Parts of it seem so contrived though. The humor just was not humrous enough as it seemed thought out and not real somehow. Other than that it was a pretty good read. Will I recommend it to a friend? Probably not.

I read this almost start to finish. Fun and entertaining, and as interesting for the peek into life as an American in Paris as for the dirt on what it's like to be a Cordon Bleu student.

great read, about a journalist who always wanted to go to Paris and take le cordon bleu cooking course,once she loses her high-powered job in London, she decides to follow her passion.it has recipes as well as highlights of the events at the school,plus stories about life in Paris.

...for the valuable recipes alone. I learned so much about gourmet cooking, and realized that I had not forgotten as much of the French I learned in high school and college as I thought! I won't be posting my copy, and I'm sorry, but I want to keep it. C'est magnifique!

A clever and enjoyable tale of attending culinary school in Paris, this nicely developed tale is fun to read. The included recipes, however, are way beyond my skill level! Recommended

I enojoyed this book! I love memoirs so I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kathleen's depiction of life at Le Courdon Bleu. I love that she had the strenght to realize her dream and I hope she does a follow up piece!

I really enjoyed this book. I like to cook. But I would never go into such detail to make an item as they do at the cooking school.
Liked the humor, the descriptions of the food prep., the chiefs and the colorful areas of Paris.
For me, it was a delight.

this is a great book - tells the true life story of a woman who abandons the career path and goes to the cordon blue in france - its less sharped tongued than anthony bourdain book but trust me you still feel as if you are right there - she leaves nothing out - its was a highly enjoyable book - i didnt want it to end

Boring, boring, boring. I didn't know what to expect when I picked up this book. I was kind of hoping it was along the lines of a Ruth Reichl book. I thought the descriptions of her time spent at The Cordon Bleu had no depth whatsoever. It was basically a daily diary.

I loved this book of the author's time spent at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She makes it all the way through Superior cuisine to graduate and along the way she falls in love and gets married. Excellent book for those who love to cook and who love french culture. And for those who have a dream that they haven't yet been able to follow.

Have yet to finish reading but have been enjoying it. Not as compelling as the one I read first (The Kitchen Counter Cooking School) but that's probably because I'm more on the beginner side of cooking and have little-to-no interest in Le Cordon Bleu. But Kathleen Flinn knows how to walk the fine line between informative and fun and so this account of her Parisian sojourn (complete with a long series of house guests) and the famed school that turned out the likes of "St Julia de Child" is quite good.
