Oh, I loved this book! I can't believe I am going to have to wait an entire year for the nexr installment in this fantastic series! Anne Bishop is such a talented writer! She has a real knack for characters, and plots, too. In this adventure, I especially loved all the Scelties - so much fun! And I liked how all the major characters made at least brief appearances... It is just a really fun series! I adore these books!

This is an excellent continuation of the story of Cassie, Gray, Theran, and the restoration of Dena Nehele. I know a lot of people thought the prequel of the series, "Invisible Ring," wasn't as good as the other books and didn't have much contribution to the series as a whole, but "Shalador's Lady" as well as its immediate prequel "The Shadow Queen" give readers a good plot that they can really dig their teeth into. It keeps your interest throughout and leaves you wanting more of these newly introduced characters. You'll love them as much as any of the other characters you fell in love with in the first three books, and you won't be disappointed because they're really not so different from Jaenelle's Court. And don't worry, there's a fair amount of interaction between the new characters and the old, enough to sate a fan of Black Jewels. The story is compelling, the characters are lovable, and the book as a whole is enjoyable. I heartily recommend it to any fantasy lover.

This is a sequel to The Shadow Queen. I liked how the main character continued to grow and change, with the help of her circle. She still has her flaws, but she is a better person and a more capable queen than she thought she was able to be.
