I renamed this YAWNING ON THE NILE.
What a boring book! Unless you're into reading an academic dissertation about ancient Egyptian artifacts in the guise of a Sherlock Holmes-type mystery, this book is akin to a sleeping pill.
And I'm so disappointed, too, because I loved, loved loved THE JEWEL OF ST. PETERSBURG by Kate Furnivall.
I do still have a few of her other books in my TBR pile, I really hope they're much better than this one. I can't recommend it.

I rate this book as a really good read. The storyline demands a bit more than most fiction; it's not full of cliches; it has distinctive and memorable characters (I will never forget Georgie); it has romance, mystery and atmosphere. It's a real page turner that would make a good miniseries.
