Eskens has become a favorite writer for me. This one centers around Joe Talbert (also Lila and Jeremy) and where their lives and choices take them. There is a murder to be solved and some tough issues to work through for Joe. The depth of Eskens' characters are always the heart of the story and what makes his books so absorbing and enjoyable.
I LOVED this riveting story about an old friend I met a few years ago in The Life We Bury. Joe is back and finds out his father whom he never met has died. He decides to go to the town to find out all about the man who abandoned his mother when she was pregnant with Joe.
The story continues and Joe finds out his father was murdered. This is a compelling and exciting sequel which was hard to put down until finished.

Love this author! His character, Joe Talbert, is down to earth and smart and believable. Just a great story! D.
The usual very good Eskens book. Well thought out, characters are interesting, plot goes along very nicely.
