I really enjoyed the noble dead series, but I was unsure about a new series with Wynn as the main character. It's not that I didn't like her, I just didn't think she was a strong, or interesting enough character to carry her own book. In some ways I was right, it took a while for the book to get going, but Chane, Shade, and Domin il'Sanke kept things pretty interesting. In the end, I was kind of proud of Wynn. She's not a kick ass, tough chick heroine, but who said that every heroine has to be? I'll definitely continue on with the series.

I have enjoyed the entire series but I have yearned for Wynn to grow up and that is the point of, In Shade and Shadow. Wynn for the first time becomes capable of making decisions, fighting for herself both against the undead and in life.

I read someones review whining that "Magiere is a bitch" and that Wynn does things by accident. Well in truth I have no desire to date Magiere then again I would never consider living with my best friend who can also be a bitch. Wynn attempts to master her sight and gets better and she learns a new skill but nothing is by accident do I don't know what the other fellow is whining about.
