I can't believe I've never read anything by this author before. This is something I will correct immediately! The characters and story held me from beginning to end. Searching for ancient Egyptian whatevers, while the bad guys are chasing you...very exciting...great settings...terrific plot twists! I love the way the author managed to put himself into the story! As always, Wilbur Smith fascinates. Very exciting, highly detailed novel that reads like fact rather than fiction. Adventure, romance, humor, betrayal - it's all in here, wrapped up in historical fact and historical "might have been". Hugely entertaining, "can't put it down" read.

Sequel to River God. Excellent story. Story moves from ancient Egypt to modern times, back and forth many times. There is a secret in the story telling which is revealed almost at the end of the book. It makes for a very enjoyable read.

It's no River God, but it kept me going. It seemed like he wanted to see if he could write a thriller. He almost could.
