The story was interesting but Brenda Joyce's writing used to be better. I got to the point where I cringed every time I read the word "stared" especially when it comprised an entire sentence preceded only by a pronoun. "He stared". "She stared". This went on until Ms. Joyce seemingly got a hold of herself in the last 50 or so pages & eliminated it. What a relief!
