Lt. Eve Dallas is drawn into a case where a woman has been murdered after being given a rare date-rape drug. Surveillance tapes show the Casanova killer uses candlelight, music and rose petals to set up a seduction. All signs show that this murder was an accident, but it isn't long until the killer is hunting for a new victim.
Interesting mystery. I didn't know how Eve and company were going to solve this case. Another great addition to the "in death" series. My rating: 5 Stars.

Another novel in the futuristic series. One of my favorites so far. Lt. Eve Dallas is searching for a Casanovca killer with a deadly appetite for seduction. Dane had been courting his victim in cyberspace for weeks before meeting her in person. A few sips of wine and a few hours later, she was dead. The murder weapon: a rare, usually undetectable date-rape drug with the street value of a quarter of a million dollars. Lt Eve Dallas is playing and replaying the clues in her mind. The candlelight, the music, the rose petals strewn across the bed---a seduction meant for his benefit, not hers. He hadn't intended to killer her. But now that he has, he is left with only two choices: he can either hole up in fear and guilt, or he can start hunting again...

Nora Roberts writes these series under the name of J.D. Robb and I've read every one of them. Set in NYC almost 50 years from now, it has elements of science fiction that are not too over the top to be believed. Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her hunky Irish husband Roarke are a dynamic pair when it comes to solving murders. This book will not disappoint you.
More of NYC in the future of soy-dogs and hover-cars....cool!

Fantastic story but disturbing at the same time! I enjoyed seeing a more human side of Commander Whitney in this story as well as seeing more of Charles. Already looking forward to the next installment.

In this book Eve Dallas is thrown into the world of Cyber dating. Women are seduced by pretty words and actions only to be killed when coming face to face with the man of her dreams. This book is relevant in today's society with all of the online dating services used. It would definitely make you think twice about joining an one. Fast pasted and enjoyable. Now on to Book 14.
I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
Love this series and I haven't been disappointed yet. I swear every book in this series is better than the one before.

This was a great read.
This was the first of hers that I have read. I enjoyed it. I recommend reading the books in order because I was kind of lost in the personal side of her life, but if that doesn't bother you I wouldn't worry about it.

A great story line. Makes you think!
GREAT story! This is the first Eve Dallas story I've read, atleast that I can remember. At first, I resisted the cliche of the "strong, (w)itch cop lives luxurious lifestyle and kicks butt on the job". But thankfully, I kept reading. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Definite page turner! I even found myself re-reading pages I'd just read, simply so I could relive Lt. Dallas' justified and succint tirades on people! LOL!

I love all of these books. Set in 2050's but is not really futuristic. Highly recommend.
If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.
I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.
