I really enjoyed this one. It had some stumbles in the beginning but I suspect this author will get better with the next book and even with the stumbles I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

Despite a bit of confusion inducing world building, this was a pretty good book. The start has a few hiccups, so much so that I almost abandoned it, but it gets better the more you read....By the second half of the novel, I couldn't put it down!
Not being terribly religious, I thought the God talk would throw me off, but really religion didn't play as big of a role as I'd worried it would. It's darker then your average paranormal romance, and the heroine does a lot of asking questions...mostly the why's and What if's of life...
So like I said a good book, though not as clear cut and easy to follow as I'd have liked though I am looking forward to her next book to see if she can flesh out this world a bit more :)

I had high hopes for this book. The story sounded interesting, but I struggled from the first page. Maybe I expected this book to be like the Lords of the Underworld series who are possessed by demons also. But Slade's writing is to intellectual for me, not emotional enough. It doesn't flow smoothly, it was like listening to a CD skip, it gave me a headache. I gave it 50 pages to hook me, but unlike the other reviews, I just can't continue with it in hopes it gets better. I won't be reading the rest of this series. Sorry Slade.

B-O-R-I-N-G!
This author tried so hard to be intellectual I wanted to scream, "Ok, I get it--I KNOW you own a thesaurus!!!" I just wanted her to keep it simple & make her new paranormal world smooth & easy to read.
But wishing did not make it so. I hung in there for 167 pages, then I flipped to the end & read the last chapter. Still didn't satisfy me.
I was bored at the beginning...and bored at the end. I'm going to trade all 3 books in the series without even reading the last 2. YAWN!
