Secrets of Bella Terra is the first in a trilogy centered around a wine making family the Di Lucas. Filled with romance and suspense (and a long standing mystery), this book is highly entertaining. Rafe Di Luca has come back to California after many years away. He reconnects with his former friend and lover, Brooke, who still burns for him, as he does for her. Throw in an 80 year old grandmother who has been attacked in her home and Rafe/Brook have a mystery to solve and a relationship to mend. There were a few loose ends in the story and the heroine was slightly annoying. Still, a good read.

This was my first Christina Dodd novel, and it was obvious she is a talented writer but something was just lacking in this book. It was kind of a hot mess in places, but strangely I still liked it. At some points it was so cheesey, but at others I couldn't tear myself away from reading. I felt the dialogue was a bit disjointed in places and portions of the plot were most certainly over the top, but I still devoured it. That being said, I doubt I will bother with the rest of the Bella Terra series because the plot was just not that interesting to me; however, I will look into Christina Dodd's other work.

An alright book. I wanted to shake both Rafe and Brooke's mother at times, particularly when they have the big "showdown". Thankfully I borrowed it from the library, no buyer's remorse here.

Very good read. Excellent characters, location and story line. Kept my attention throughout. "Suspenseful Romance" the back says, but does not feel like a "romance" book, so don;t let that turn you off if you don't like romances. Suspense is really good.
