Beautiful gift book. The author is a professional antiques appraiser and he tells how to get nice antiques for less money.I was very impressed by his ideas. Say you find a beautiful unsigned antique painting but it unsigned.It may be done by a famous artist, but that is unprovable then you can bargain to get this painting for less. Mr Loomis recommends window shopping until you know your antiques and their value. This makes sense because you can get better deals. With knowledge of what is a fair price you can offer a lower price if you can explain why or recognize a bargain. You do not want to insult the antique dealer by offering too low of a price for an item. I used this approach. I went looking at an antiques dealer and I picked up a Wedgwood Salt and Pepper set that was a part o an antique dish set that I have. There was no name on the salt and pepper set so they were not worth much to the dealer.
