This book's protagonist, Gabriel Allon, an agent of the Israeli counterintelligence group, becomes involved in the abduction of the daughter of the US Ambassador to the Court of St. James by Moslem extremists.
The plot moves quickly, as has been the case in some of Silva's earlier books, many characters come back from earlier books.
In the telling of the story, Silva introduces some interesting "back stories" to the growth of extremist groups, particularly in Egypt, all of which is well researched, and not fictional.
All together -- A very good read!

This is a very suspenseful thriller. I enjoyed it more than The Messenger because the pacing was more even - there was enough action throughout the entire book to keep me reading for hours.
I am glad that the author includes notes at the end about what is fact and what is fiction, because his knowledge of middle east history and politics is so great that it can be difficult for a less informed reader such as myself to tell the difference. Silva consistently does a good job of incorporating actual events into his stories, which make the tales seem more real.

After the English Assassin, I had hopes for this being ingtriguing....however....this one I languished to get through...as for my wife.
Daniel Silva - foreign correspondent - "didn't realize when he wrote this book in 2007 he was fortelling what was going to happen four years later".
Another great spy thriller with Gabriel Allon as the nain character. With its twists and turns it makes you want to read more to get to the end.
Really enjoyed number 7 in this series.
