Character is wise, but thoroughly enjoyable

I'm not big on military themes, but I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the Sean Drummond series by Brian Haig. Sean Drummond is a military lawyer called in to investigate an apparent ambush and slaughter of Serbian men by a group of American Green Berets. Once he begins digging into details, things look worse and worse, and Sean begins to question his notions of duty and honor.
The surprising part of this novel was the humor! Sean is a smart aleck; sarcastic, funny and yet he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's one of those guys that can be obnoxious, but is right there when you need him to be. I certainly didn't expect to enjoy this book so much. I will definitely read the other five titles in the series.
