This book is hot!!! Brings to mind the old saying...Don't judge a book by its cover. A few of Prince Dimitri's serfs believed Lady Katherine's story of being the daughter of an earl and why she was dressed as a servant. Prince Dimitri refuses to marry Katherine because he believes she is below him but he can't help wanting her. His worse fears are realized when Katherine is recognized by a friend of her father's, the British ambassador to Russia. Dimitri finally asks Katherine to marry him only to be refused. Katherine disappears and Dimitri pursues her until he finally finds her and their son about a year later in a park in London. Two great and strong characters!

This in my opinion is one of Johanna Lyndsey's best books! The book is about a Russian Prince who always gets his way and his people (servants, friends, family) all see that he does get what he wants. The heroine is tricked into his home, bed and life against her will. She soon realizes she is willing to be there. As with most historical romance novels the at first over bearing roguish man, always has a compassionate loving side that our heroine just doesn't see...until she falls in love with him even after everything he has put her through.

Johanna Lindsey has a style of writing with seriousness, compassion, love and full of humor. She tops my list of favorite authors for historical romance with her unique style of writing. Her books are well written as is this one and there are always unexpected twists and turns. Johanna Lindsey does not write cookie cutter historical romance novels! Secret fire is unique and different from any other novels of this type I have read.

If you like historical romance, I would recommend this book to everyone. I also recommend reading all of Johanna Lindsey's novels. Her books are the kind, once you start reading, you just can't put it down!

I couldn't put this book down. I'm not overly fond of books where the main female is described as unattractive, but this book was phenomenal in spite of that. I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I made an exception for this book. There are no dull moments in Secret Fire. This story made me laugh, made me cry, pissed me off, and in the end it made me smile.

I own every book she has written and my daughter is now collecting them. Johanna Linsay is the best when it comes to historical romance. She has never written a bad book. I There is nothing better on a rainy night than a warm cozy fire and a Johanna Lindsey Book. They are must reads all of them over and over again.
