A favorite that I have held onto and decided to finally share...small book, quick read, GREAT page turner!
After being disappointed with THE RAVENSCAR DYNASTY, I decided to pull A SECRET AFFAIR off my TBR pile and give it a go since it's a short one.
Bill and Vanessa are two dimensional characters at best. There was more description about the decor of the hotel rooms, Vanessa's cottage, etc. than solid character development. I couldn't care less about their relationship or where it ended up. This was much too amateur a story, a poor attempt at an ill-fated war-torn romance that goes nowhere fast. It was too airy-fairy and sappy, and lacked intelligence.

A 33-year-old tv war correspondent who recently did a stint in Bosnia, Bill Fitzgerald decides to go to Venice to relax. While there, he meets 27-year-old Vanessa Stewart, an American woman who is a glass designer from New York. Unhappily married, Vanessa begins a no-strings attached friendship with Bill which quickly blossoms into an illicit affair. The lovers agree to meet each other as much as possible after they return home. However, on the third rendevous one of them doesn't show up. I thought that this book was a short read. I enjoyed it but it was more like a long short story more than anything. I gave it a B+!
Great book....one of her best; especially via audio
It was a very beautiful story. I still can't believe that one of the main character dies at the end. Venice,Italy one of the most romantic places to be and to meet your true love then it was New York my home another place were you can enjoy life.
All i can say is that i enjoy Barbara Taylor Bradford's books and i hope people that read her novels will too i encourge you to buy and read just one novel and you will know what i am talking about.
It was a captivating work filled with glamour, intigue and ironic reversal... Richly textured, highly entertaining and stunning love and romance story.
