Every Second Counts
Author: Lance Armstrong, Sally Jenkins
The five-time Tour de France winner and Number 1 New York Times bestselling author returns with an inspirational account of his recent personal and professional victories—and some failures—and an intimate glimpse into how almost dying taught him to really live. — Since the release of his megabestseller, It’s Not About ...  more », Lance Armstrong has enjoyed a new series of thrilling rides, culminating with the extension of his string of Tour de France victories to a record-tying fifth in 2003. Continuing the inspiring story begun in his first book, Every Second Counts captures the mind-set of a man who has beaten incredible odds and considers each day an opportunity for excellence.

Armstrong’s previous book recounted his journey from a grim diagnosis of testicular cancer to a stunning recovery that culminated in his winning the 1999 Tour de France. His new book addresses the equally daunting challenge of living in the aftermath of this experience and making the most of every breath of life.

A fresh perspective on the spirit of survivors everywhere, Every Second Counts will invigorate and enthrall Armstrong’s millions of admirers.

“A joyous, triumphant book, a celebration of all the things that make life good.” —Booklist

“There’s something of a vicarious thrill in being along with Armstrong for the ride.” —San Antonio Express-News

I really enjoyed this book. Lance Armstrong is a truly inspiration person, mainly because he's just a man who loves to ride his bike. He has survived, even beaten cancer and accomplished the impossible, a record 7 Tour de France championships. In this book, Lance addresses the challenge of living in the aftermath of his experience with cancer and making the most of every breath of life.

I am not an athlete, but I had read Armstrong's first book and I was anxious to read this. After reading this bbok you will understand the workings of the Tour du France and the controversies of Armstrong's life. A lesson on discipline, character and devotion. A great read.

"Every Second Counts" continues the story of Lance's first book, "It's Not About the Bike" However, it falls short of the standard set in the original work.

Much of the material dealing with Lance's values as a family man and a cancer survivor is repetitive; having established himself as multi dimensional in "Not About the Bike", Lance should have gone deeper into the racing action this time around. That said, I did not regret reading it. Lance is a champion among champions and we can all learn something from his drive and will to win.

Especially poignant since the tour is presently going on with only a few days left. If he wins this will be number 7. It would be truly amazing and a great way for him to end his career.

Loved the insight into his character and more about the Postal now Discovery team, especially George Hincapie (who won a stage a few days ago).

Its a continuation of "Its not about the Bike" By Lance Armstrong.I found it not as inspirational as the first book but still honest and more humbly in some ways.
