I enjoyed this book to a point, but it is kind of weird and hard to follow especially toward the end. Siddons seems to turn a corner and is off in another direction. Even at the end I'm not sure exactly what happened.
Reader, Jane Alexander is great as always.
I recommend the book. Just don't look for closure

Beautiful and memorable novel that occurs pre sixties and ends in the present. Told by Lilly and the wonderful and often turbulent life she shares with her First and Last genuine loves. Biographically woven gracefully by Anne Rivers Siddons and retold by the pleasant voice of Jane Alexander. A bit mystical.. but always relatable and heartachingly compelling. This one may starts slowly but by the 2nd CD you will NOT want it to end. This one will be long remembered and sweetly imprinted on the listener.
Anne Rivers Siddons is one of my Favorite Authors. I love the way she writes in addition to the historical aspect of the Carolinas; plus the Eastern Seaboard. When I am reading and/or listening to her stories I feel like I'm transported and living the events of the time and location. Off Season is definitely a Keeper.
